When you are out working on the job site building metal canopies, prefabricated metal canopies, or car wash buildings, creating a safe construction working environment should be your top priority. The tips we will give you will help make sure you and your co-workers are safe on the job, and get home safe every night.

Every construction project should have a transportation management plan. The plan should consist of a temporary traffic control plan to protect workers by safely conducting traffic around or through the work zone. You should also have a traffic control plan for inside the work zone that manages the flow of heavy equipment, construction vehicles, and workers.

Have a plan! Having a plan will help you avoid any unforeseen trials and tribulations. Not having a plan opens you up to accidents, delays, and the possibility of not finishing your project.

Proper safety equipment should be worn by all everyone working. Personal protective equipment includes hard hats, steel-toed boots, highly visible clothing and, depending on the noise levels, hearing protection.

You should always be mindful of what’s going on around you. Avoid walking behind any vehicles that may be backing up or into the swing radius of heavy equipment.

Don’t forget to drink plenty of water or liquids high in electrolytes. You should also get out of the heat and sun as much as possible especially on extremely hot days to avoid heatstroke.
